Zinforo 600mg is a prescription antibiotic used primarily for the treatment of serious bacterial infections. Its active ingredient, ceftaroline fosamil, is a prodrug that converts to ceftaroline, an active form, in the body. Ceftaroline works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to the death of the bacteria. This antibiotic is known for its broad-spectrum activity, meaning it can target a wide variety of bacteria, including those that are resistant to other antibiotics, such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and penicillin-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae.
It is usually administered via intravenous infusion over 60 minutes and is used under the guidance of healthcare professionals in hospitals. Zinforo is prescribed in cases where other antibiotics may not be effective, especially in complicated skin and soft tissue infections (cSSTIs) and community-acquired pneumonia (CAP).
